I've downloaded the current (December 2018) customer URN list.

I can see that there are customers on there from Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as the Channel islands and British Forces overseas (BFP).

The types of organisation are primarily government buyers, but also include Not for profits (churches are in this category, for instance).

It looks as though the Crown Commercial Service are responsible for maintaining the list, as there is text at the link given by Tim that says:

"Customer URNs can be accessed through MISO to identify the URN for your customer organisations. If they are a new customer and not present on the list, you can submit a request to CCS to have them added to the system."

Access to MISO is provided through a login, but I was able to directly download an xlsx file from the page which has a complete, I assume, list of the customers. In total it has just over 50,000 rows.

The list contains just 10 data points:

URN | Organisation Name | Address Line 1 | Address Line 2 | Address Line 3 | County | Country | Post Code | Sector | Organisation Type

URNs are eight digits in length, start with a '1' and may be incremental, running from '10000006' to '10583216'. As such, they appear to URNs used solely within the context of them being customers of the Crown Commercial Service.

@siwhitehouse I've merged the related PR - can this issue be closed now?

siwhitehouse commented 5 years ago

@rory09 I'm getting a 404 error when I try and navigate to http://org-id.guide/list/GB-CCSCUST

This seems to be the case for most of the PRs that I have been involved with since I started.

matmaxgeds commented 5 years ago

Is this the same as this list: http://org-id.guide/list/GB-SRS i.e. can this be closed?

siwhitehouse commented 5 years ago

Thanks for questioning this @matmaxgeds . My understanding is that this issue is for the list of government customers, whereas the one you link to is for suppliers.
