Hi @jduckles,

My first question is: What is the definition of an "Open Source organizations in Science"? Do they make, fund, use, ???, OSS?

It might be worth contacting Anne Lee Steele at Turing Way. I remember she's done a similar landscape analysis, but I can't remember the level of detail she went into.

Perhaps it's also worth chatting to CZI—EOSS to see if there's anything that you've missed? https://chanzuckerberg.com/eoss/ Of course, their main focus is health, so it's only a small subset that you'll get there.

Don't forget about humanities and social sciences (I see you're calling this project 'Science' OSS landscape...). I've recently started learning about cool tools that support amazing work in these fields - some are listed here - https://dh-tech.github.io/awesome-digital-humanities/. These might lead you to other orgs that you'd want to add to the map.

Will share more if I can think of some.

I am looking forward to seeing what the end product will include. I expect it will be vast.
