Could potentially use [venturi style anemometers] (with barometers measuring differential between two points). But out in a field, the tubes will get clogged quickly?

5am brianfart...

Wind = pressure turbulence = sound turbulence

Why bother adding more sound to the mix?

It's easier to filter to our added (ultrasound) because we know what it was like when we created it and we can determine how it's changed when we receive it.

But... Surely we could just listen to the wind? Usually it's infrasound - we can't hear it, but we can feel it... as the wind picks up, we feel it more and eventually start to hear it "howling/whistling wind", if it got really turbulent it could even go in to ultrasonic? Anyway, if we know the sound frequency characteristics of an object for a given (eg. current) temperature, we know how it will affect sound (pressure) ...we can listen to that object - eg. with a gyroscope or wideband microphone - and work out what the wind is doing? Do that in 3 or more locations, and we can triangulate the wind direction, speed, etc?

We're not interested in pressure as such (barometer), what we're interested in changes in pressure = sound.

Could the Stevenson Screen be turned in to an anemometer? If so, would merit having shock absorber (rubber seal) between Screen and main sensor module?
