Out of memory opening database file #146

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. my .kdbx file is > 10Mb (14.7Mb to be precise)
2. Restart my Android device, start keepassdroid, open file, and app says out
of memory.
3. my database contains scanned images as jpegs, not a lot, about 10 or so.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would have expected keepassdroid to be able to open a 14Mb file, when there
is > 135Mb available.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 2.2.1, Keepassdroid 1.8.6.4

Please provide any additional information below.
Is there a specific file size or Database size that keepassdroid is limited to?

The database size limit will very by how much memory your phone has. The .kdbx
file is stored compressed, but KeePassDroid will uncompress it in memory. So,
it may require more memory than the file size may indicate.

I have the same problem too. My HTC Desire phone should have enough RAM (768
MB) to open a 6 MB database. Systems information is confirming that I do have
plenty of RAM available. On the test that I have done the difference in size
of the compressed and uncompressed database is negligible. I can view 1GB
movie files on my phone so I don't get it.

Same problem with HTC Legend (RAM 74MB/292MB used) and 3.2(!) MB kbdx file!
Problem possibly came up after adding scanned files in keepass PC. But persists
after deleting and reorganizing DB. The DB works on PC without any problems.
I'm not able any more to load the DB on the phone don't matter what I do...
