discovery without echo #80

Hi

Just one question. Is it possible by using this node to discover devices without any echo. I only use the alexa app. With the skill of Ben Hardill (node-red-contrib-alexa-home-skill) it works without an echo. But you will need here an additional account somewhere in the cloud. I would like to use alexa without any account nor any echo.

Yes. Alexa App. Select devices | All Devices | Press the + (top right) | Select - Add Device | Scroll to bottom and select - Other | Press - DISCOVER DEVICES

Thank you for the answer. This is exactly what I try all the time, but it doesn't work. Could it be, that the node-red-contrib-alexa-home-skill conflicts with alexa-local?

i can confirm that this is not working. :( Any other solutions?

It also does not work if node-red-alexa-home-skill ist uninstalled. Also node-red-alexa-home does not work with the App only. This is really a pity. So for me only node-red-contrib-alexa-smart-home-skill is working actually.

Still working for me. Tested it two days ago.

Try going here: https://alexa.amazon.com/spa/index.html#appliances and click on the [discover] button at the bottom of the page.

Additionally, you may try to reboot your echo(s) and I had to enable mDNS on my wifi router (and sometimes have to reboot it before starting discovery).

Oddly, it sometimes takes a day or two for new commands/devices to be discovered. I assume the echo's refreshes their caches.

Thank you for your help. But unfortunately I do not have any echo. And my question was, whether it also works without any echo. In the meantime I deactivated the https in nodered, but this also not helps. Does it somebody got working without echo?

@Langer75 No, cannot work without Echo(recently only Echo 1st gen, Echo dot 1st gen, Echo dot 2nd gen, are running smoothly and fully support), the Amazon Echo will talk to the node locally, so that this node named Alexa-Local. Alexa APP even ask Echo to discovery the Alexa-Local node locally.
