It should be possible to select features that overlaps the already selected items and the result of a search.
I propose to add a tool in the multiselect toolbox that uses the combined geometry of the current selection as search filter. The user shall be given the opportunity to add a buffer radius as well. Possibly it should be possible to select from which layer(s) or if search result should be used. Not sure about that.
Alternatively the buffer feature tool can be used: if there is a selection or search result it will be used instead of letting the user point out a feature to use. Not sure about that one either.
Regarding using search result it may be necessary to add a configuration if that should be possible. Not sure... but considering there are at least five different ways to obtain a search result, it may be necessary to give the multiselect tool some hints where to find some features to use as input.
