On emacs 27.2 project-root function not available. Can be fixed by installing project package from GNU ELPA.

ah, thank you - this was a regression introduced in a recent PR. please try https://github.com/orzechowskid/flymake-eslint/pull/32 and let me know if it fixes your problem.
