Remove files with syntax errors, comment out unused functions #18

I just removed anything that caused compilation issues when building the whole source tree. By merging this, we can set up travis builders or similar that makes sure that no changes introduce new build errors or unit test failures.

Of course, the files are obviously needed, so they should be introduced again when they are fixed properly. Until then, I would let them live on a branch, but avoid doing all development on that branch...
