firstly let me start off by saying RC5 looks to be the best release of OSticket I have seen yet. I am really enjoying the layout and how the loading messages bridge some of the delays in loading. One of the big reasons why I like OSticket V1.7 was the integration of the FAQ feature into core. I have been testing how one might add FAQ topics and have internal KB's for topics in certain categories vs. others. I tried to test an internal category and it allowed me to add an external FAQ item. While this did not show when it was saved (this is a good thing) it might confuse a would be submitter due to the fact that it is an option to select and allows you to save it successfully without notification. A suggestion I thought might be useful would be to insert a prompt upon submission that the faq would not be visible to the public unless the main category was reset to be viewable to the public or hide the option of the FAQ option of Public unless the category selected is also public. I do not believe the alternative logic would be required because setting a private FAQ topic in a public category I'd imagine will be common-place for most.
Thanks for the feedback - KB/FAQ will be getting some love post 1.7 release. I personally I think the interface can be improved to make it more intuitive and closely tied to ticket submission.
