It looks like 188 of the 220 users have email address. Once we have this set up, we should post the link in public places as well, in an attempt to catch any of those. I'm also in favor of beginning to require email addresses, but that's a separate issue.
Sadly, we missed the window for doing this easily.
We should figure out a process to relink these users in cases where we have a verifiable email address, but we can no longer have them sign in with their existing credentials. :(
But wait! It seems that MyOpenId.com is still allowing people to sign in, even in its unmaintained state. We should move ahead with this after all.
Wow, I had no idea about myOpenID. I have been continuing to use it successfully on opensourcebridge.org.
On the osbridge OCW deployment, we currently have 220 users liked to identifiers hosted at https://www.myopenid.com/. This service is shutting down on 1 Feb 2014, which will likely fall right in the middle of our CFP. Once we've merged #58 and solved #59, we should reach out to these users and get them to set up another authentication method.
Ideally, we'd email them a link directly to the "new authentication" form, which would require them to sign in with their existing identifier. They could then set up an alternate method to use going forward.
