Write a document that shows the boot up process of a computer #3

The document should detail everything that happens from the point when you first slam your fist down on the power button to when you get a login prompt, whether that be a text mode or graphical login shell.

Prepare a document on this and prepare to give a group presentation.

Currently there is neither assignee nor supervisor to this task. Volunteer!

This document is a bit old and doesn't cover newer init alternatives such as systemd and upstart. But it is still a useful introduction to the topic.
