Unable to get ContactState to appear on listing of available sensors to add in PRTG

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I downloaded the PTF ContactState zip file, extracted the files, and moved 
the .exe file (black icon, described as "PTF sensor") into the "Custom 
Sensors/EXE" folder under the PRTG Network Monitor program folder.  When that 
didn't work on executing step #2 below, I also later tried moving it into the 
"Sensor System" folder as well (since that had mostly icons similiar to 
ContactState.exe file.
2. I opened up the PRTG program, logged in (Ajax GUI), selected "Add Sensor 
Manually".
3. At next screen, I chose "add sensor to an existing device", then chose 
"probe device" under "local probe".  The next screen gives you the sensors to 
choose from.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The list of available sensors populates the screen below (121 of them), but the 
one for ContactState does not appear.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
PRTG 9 (latest version, downloaded this week). Windows XP Professional w/ SP3.  
I have the required NET2 (as well as 3 & 4) on my computer.

Please provide any additional information below.
Why can't I get this sensor to appear on the list of available sensors on my 
PRTG program?  What am I doing wrong?  What am I not doing right?

The sensor needs to be copied to the "CustomSensor/EXE" folder of tour PRTG 
installation.
When running the sensor on a remote probe, please keep in mind that it also 
needs to be copied to the same folder on the remote probe or it will not show 
up in the list.

That is what I did my first go-round.  I followed the instructions on this site 
exactly and copied & pasted the PTF_ContactState.exe file into the "Custom 
Sensors/EXE" folder of the PRTG program, and it didn't show up on the available 
sensors listing.  I don't get it.  I have no intention of using remote probes, 
...just trying to monitor the state of 2 relays off the serial port of my local 
computer.

Did you also try to add it using the web interface?
By the way, it will monitor a serial port on the PRTG server or probe, not on 
your local machine.

I used the Ajax GUI interface with my Google Chrome browser.  I assume that the 
AJAX GUI is a web interface since it uses the Chrome browser.  I also thought 
PRTG sets up the PRTG Server (and the device probe under "local") on your local 
machine as a default.  Are there any other settings I need to change in my PRTG 
prgram?

I know I'm missing something here.....but I just don't know exactly what it is. 
 What am I not doing?  What would you do if you were wanting to monitor 2 
relays off of your home alarm system?

To monitor 2 relays of your home alarm system, you need to connect them to a 
serial port of your PRTG server or Remote Probe.

so then....(the big question)...can the PRTG server be the computer you are 
running PRTG on?  Does the program set up the machine your installing on as 
"the PTRG server" as a default, or is there something else I have to configure?

I'm sorry, but you lost me now...
The PRTG server is the computer you are running PRTG on. A Remote Probe is a 
computer you are running a PRTG Remote Probe on. Only serial ports of your PRTG 
server or Remote Probes can be used. When using the serial port of a Remote 
Probe, the sensor also needs to be copied to the "Custon Sensor/EXE" folder of 
the Remote Probe.

not on your local machine."  I just want to clarify something.  If I installed 
PRTG on my home computer (the only computer I will be using for this project), 
doesn't that make my home computer the PRTG server?  When I install (paste) the 
"ContactState" add-in (file) into the "Custom Sensor/EXE" folder (on the same 
home computer/PRTG server), it does not display on the "available sensors" list 
like it is supposed to when I then run the PRTG program. I really would like to 
make this work somehow. Can someone help?  If not, I will have to look for 
another program that will do what I need to do. Hoping someone can help solve 
my problem here....

Ok, I think I'm seeing the missing link now. You need to add a exe/script 
sensor from the available sensors list and select the ContactState.exe from the 
dropdown on the next page.
