View read conferences #12

Open dentarg opened 12 years ago

dentarg commented 12 years ago

It doesn't seem possible to view conferences with no unread texts. It was possible in WebKOM, and I liked it.

osks commented 12 years ago

What is it that you want to do with the conference? (I.e. what is the actual functionality that are you missing.)

dentarg commented 12 years ago

Read old texts. The most important being to read old texts in my personal conference (the direct message thing).

How would it work then? I don't use WebKOM so I have no idea how it works there. There is functionality for "Set unread" which you can use to read old texts, but I have no idea if that's what you're looking for.

In WebKOM you can choose an conference and click on a link "Earlier articles" which will show you earlier articles in that conference (if there are any that hasn't been garbage collected yet). There is also and "Later articles" link.

I use "Earlier articles" if I want yo find old texts (mostly in my own conference, "dentarg2") and if I have a lot of unread texts in an conference I usually skim the subjects of the texts, going through the conference with the "Later articles" link. When I have read what I want I use "Set unread" to set the unread count to zero.

Maybe you should try out WebKOM? :) You can use https://webkom.abc.se/ (just change the server to login to whatever KOM you want).

I'm sorry. I have now read a number of texts in "LysKOM(-klienten) jskom (och httpkom)" were you said you had nothing to do with the WebKOM to jskom switch at Lysator and you didn't make jskom to replace WebKOM. I have a better understanding of the project now.

I think this will be solved when #24 is fixed.

It's also possible that this is already fixed with the membership list in the sidebar (is in master, but not yet released. will be in 0.13).
