OsmAnd on iPad unable to obtain location when network connection not available #2285

iPad model: A1893 / MR7F2LL/A (6th gen/2018) iOS: 15.6.1 OsmAnd: V4.2.4

OsmAnd is unable to obtain a location using GPS when the iPad does not have a network connection. It exhibited this behavior from the moment I installed OsmAnd.

Pressing the location icon causes the location icon to turn purple, the map zooms to an incorrect location(on state away), the location icon in the iPad's bar at the top turns black for a few seconds then goes back to being an outline.

I tried uninstalling OsmAnd and reinstalling. No change.

Please let me know what other information you need. Thanks!

Other GPS apps work fine and accurately whether there is a network connection or not.

@emeitner Reproduce failed Try downloading the latest version of TestFlight and check again. Also, try to activate the exact location: Device settings > OsmAnd Maps > Location > Precise Location Could you please tell us which version of the tablet you have - Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular?

Tablet is Wifi Only.

Precise Location has been enabled the whole time. Problem is the same whether or not it is enabled.

I've installed Testflight, but it says there are no available apps to test.

This is odd:

  1. Tturn off Wifi.
  2. Open OsmAnd
  3. GPS location does not work.
  4. Open Apple Map
  5. It has my location from GPS immediately
  6. Go back to OsmAnd and it has my location too

I have the same problem but it is not resolved by Opening Apple Map. Has anyone any up-to-date help about overcoming this?

I want to run OsmAnd on an iPad 9th gen.

As an alternative, I have paired it with a Garmin Oregon 750 but the result is inaccurate location (circa 200m sometimes when navigating) meaning missed turns!
