Hello, even feature request for trailblazed=symbols already exists https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd/issues/11380 I am opening new request for trailblazed=* because I believe these tags should be should be solved together firstly.

As author of this proposalhttps://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/trailblazed%3Dpoles;cairns I had some ideas about rendering from beginning but I am not insist on them.

Here is example how trailblazed=poles might be rendered Marking_by_poles

I think to render trailblazed=* as offset tiny marks beside path/tracks/roads is good idea trailblazed=yes ... little circle trailblazed=no ... not rendered trailblazed=poles ... little cross x (poles sometimes having cross on top for better visibility) trailblazed=cairns ... little triangle (reminding shape of cairn) trailblazed=symbols ... little rhombus ... not sure about color :( ... red? ... and size

there is also additional tags about visibility of blazing based mainly on distance between blazing trailblazed:visibility=excellent trailblazed:visibility=good trailblazed:visibility=intermediate trailblazed:visibility=bad trailblazed:visibility=horrible trailblazed:visibility=no

I would suggest make three density patterns: quite dense for: trailblazed:visibility=excellent trailblazed:visibility=good normal density for: trailblazed:visibility=intermediate trailblazed:visibility=bad and less dense for: trailblazed:visibility=horrible trailblazed:visibility=no ... this tag is defined as there are still some marks even very rare.

If tag trailblazed:visibility=* is missing ( what will be very probably in most cases) I would stay with middle density of rendering

best regards

Quote xmd5a2 answer "OsmAnd rendering engines doesn't support offsets for icons along path. So this is not possible at that moment."

Can we ignore trailblazed = symbols + osmc:symbol = combination consider only pure traiblazed = tags and do it by offset line? Is offset line supported? Or just very wide line which is mostly transparent and on side some tiny symbols as I suggested? Not sure if this is technically a good idea although.

New pages for trailblazed= and trailblazed:visibility= are ready https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:trailblazed https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:trailblazed:visibility

I should also explain why trailblazed=* would be great to be rendered. trailblazed=poles we have a lot of mountain tracks blazed by poles in Czech they are great for navigating mountains in winter time and also in other seasons. I saw them also elsewhere ... Switzerland mountains and northern Scandinavia where they marking ski and snow mobile routes. ... so definitely great to have on winter and hiking maps and maps for snowmobiles. I already used this tag on all places in Czech which are known to be blazed this way. trailblazed=cairns On many hikes in the world I saw sections of path blazed this traditional way. Definitely great to have on hiking maps and maybe elsewhere. trailblazed=symbols Great to have on hiking maps and mtb maps maybe elsewhere ... I saw some mtb trails taged this way trailblazed=yes this tag existed long before tags above were introduced and is most widely common in use. It would be great to have in all maps mentioned before as under it can be covered many different markings.
