Just dont switch over and stay with Osmand 🙃
Suggest to Google and Waze the OsmAnd map style options !
@tradavyvy I mean for people coming to Osmand..
Coming from Waze and Google Maps, understand this is an issue. Could you possibly elaborate on what you mean by this?
I was just suggesting offering "Map Style" options that are similar to how Google Maps and Waze (and maybe Apple Maps) looks.
It would allow for users who are accustomed to those apps to be able to comfortably switch to OSMand. We already have a handful of Map Style options, but I think these 2 or 3 extra ones would be very good introductions. Personally I think they're a bit simpler on the eyes myself, a lot of the OSMand styles feel too cluttered and have weird colors. Google Maps for example is very clean and simple with it's styling.

Google maps are so clean that you can't even see buildings, only POIs
For some use cases, this simple view is nice. For others where a more complicated view maybe not. However this can be setup by the user using the profiles, and just using different map styles for different profiles of course.
Honestly I find it a bit less distracting while driving personally if I need to quickly glance at the map. All the styles currently present have just way too much going on as far as colors and lines I find, no matter how much I tweak I have to look at the screen longer than I want or have to kedp glancing back which is dangerous.
I return to this because it is something I still am highly interested in seeing. I was navigating with Gmaps on a friends phone yesterday and find it significantly easier to read quickly when driving due to the simplicity.
I really feel OSM could benefit from having a "Modern"" theme, along the lines of Waze and Google Maps. Of course users can always switch to any other themes, but just having that option would be extremely nice.
I see no principle problem with more map styles exept the devellopers time and energie could maybe better be spend on more 'urgent' problems. Besides I personaly realy do not like a lot of googles choices. For instance in your screenshot the GREEN arrows indicate the lanes you should NOT take.
The arrows in that are not green, but darkened. Anyways the color could be clarified. I'm not saying to copy their design, but simply provide a more cleaner modernized design. This is what users interact with and look at daily.
But anyways maybe an option for a user repository, or the ability to import custom stuff could be beneficial"
This could be remedied nicely by making it easy for users to create custom themes (and share/export/import). Every user can make it exactly how they want for optimal viewing. And would take time off the developers in the long run.
Suggesting map style options that are similar to Google Maps and Waze for more comfortable switching over.
