Voice guidance option. #17063

🚀 feature request

Description

Hello,

I am an OsmAnd user and I appreciate the navigation and mapping features offered by the application. However, I find that the voice navigation system lacks customization. I would like to have the option to disable voice guidance for turn instructions, while keeping the hazard alerts.

Currently, disabling the Voice Prompt option disables everything, including hazard warnings. So I propose to add an option in the application settings to enable or disable voice guidance for turn instructions, while keeping hazard alerts.

I think this option would be useful for many users who want to customize their navigation experience.

Best regards, Meyverick

I think there's a workaround for this (I'm not in a position to test at the minute).

If you start a navigation, then let it finish (so literally just 100m down the road), I believe it kicks the voice engine into action, and from then on it'll give you alerts. Presumably until you close the 'You have arrived at your destination' dialogue, or possibly until you close OsmAnd.

Not a neat solution by any stretch, but if it works it's a stopgap.

Yes, exactly: No real solution, but 2 possible workarounds:

sounds a lot like #13373.

@meyverick Upon re-reading your original issue it strikes me that perhaps you are not aware that you cannot just turn the voice guidance on or off entirely (by tapping the 'switch' icon on the menu item), but also (by tapping on the voice guidance menu text itself in the profile's Navigation settings), you can turn on/off a lot of individual options. (albeit not the turn instrutions themselves, I think, but e.g. associated street names etc.)
