can't use navigation in mainland China #18213

Description

I can't use navigation in mainland China, for example, I can't select driving navigation from a certain place in Guangzhou to a certain place in Shenzhen. The Maps for mainland China could be improved by referring to Tencent Maps or Amap (高德地图). The real-scene walking navigation feature of Tencent Maps is very good, very practical, and easy to use.

Steps to reproduce

Search for navigation from my location to a certain place. “Could not find anything: 10km”

Actual result

Could not find anything: 10km

Expected result

No matter where in the world, the various routes can be indicated on how to proceed.

@Subtly7360 Please clarify, is your problem related to search or navigation in China? Please note, that OsmAnd uses Openstreetmap data as a map source (https://www.openstreetmap.org/) You can also read online about the legal restrictions on the use of unauthorized maps in China.

I can confirm that the OSMAND Chinese map is SEVERELY outdated, even as the OpenStreetMaps are not (see for example https://www.openstreetmap.org/history#map=10/30.2270/120.6203). At least this was the case in September 2023 with the Google Play Store version.

Please clarify if your maps have been updated and have you tried using live updates? Also specify specific areas where you consider the map to be outdated.

Live Updates seem to fix the problem- but why is the default map so outdated ?
