Voice announcements ask to stick to right/left on perfectly straight streets #20133

Description

When voice-navigating a route by bicycle, I sometimes get a series of announcements asking to stick to the right or left on perfectly straight streets with a straight route. These commands refer to distant (ex. 90 m) spots. It happened several times the other day on Graham blvd in Town of Mount-Royal (Montreal, Canada) on either side of the roundabout. It's an ample street with stop signs at straight-angle crossings.

Steps to reproduce

Navigate by bicycle.

Actual result

Repeated announcements to stick right or left on a perfectly straight street.

Expected result

No such announcements

Your Environment (required)

OsmAnd Version: 4.7.17 Android/iOS version: 8.0.0 Device model: Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) cellphone

The bug has been reproduced. To reproduce it, follow these steps: choose the bike profile and navigate from coordinates 45.51683, -73.64532 to 45.51509, -73.64258 while enabling voice prompts. During the ride, you'll notice numerous "keep left" instructions even on straight streets, which unnecessarily clutter the voice guidance.

I kind of recall stop sign announcements could be turned off, perhaps these "keep left" too, but I can't find this setting anymore.

BTW, my bicycle route was on Graham blvd. from West to East (Sainte-Croix to Rockland) going through the roundabout. The "keep left/right" announcements did not occur in the roundabout, but on the straight legs on Graham.

speleoluc commented 4 months ago

It's perfectly repeatable. I rode Graham over its whole length today to return home and Osmand+ kept telling me to stick left or right where the street is perfectly straight.

Road looks like roundabout (though it's not mapped) but it's not straight, you need to keep left in order to avoid right exits

speleoluc commented 3 months ago

There is indeed a roundabout on that street, but announcements happen way before and after that roundabout, on a perfectly straight section of that street.
