Nice to have: Can we add petrol station brand logo to OsmAnd amenity=fuel.

I think that a symbol for the most present brands can be added to the map view. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_fuel_brands

At first sight, this gives me a headache .... :)

We would quickly get in the business of doing this also for supermarket chain stores, fast food places etc., and our maps would look like we are sponsored by the whole world and their brothers ... :)

Maybe it is a business idea for us to try to get paid for putting logos in OsmAnd. :)

I would also like to have this but not only for fuel stations. This is already done by the iD editor, showing the brand logo for supermarkets, dealerships, fast food restaurants when clicking on a node, using the data from the brand tag and logos from wikidata. This could be an optional feature, giving the user the option to choose seeing the brand logos or standard icons. Maybe, another option could be to show this logo when opening info for a node, like here: IMG_20210422_184109.jpg

I think this feature can make easier to find shops, as it's easier to recognize an image than a text with the name.

I'm wondering whether we should actively support large brands. After all, this will lead to big brands becoming even more important and small, individual shops getting less important. A little bit exaggerated one might even say that this will support capitalism. Is this really a wise move?

This might not work at all cause OsmAnd is offline maps application having all Big Assets inside app is very weird and it is unlikely to happen. We better save space for landmark features I think. So having "brand" icons could work only for Public Important places such as Subway stations for example

Sorry for replying more than a year later.

All shops can have their logo uploaded to wikidata, not just large brands, it only depends on users contributing this data.

In this case, maybe this could be an online-only feature, as mapillary images or wikidata photos. Giving the user the option to choose to download some brands logos of their preference (for example, for a delivery worker that only works with certain companies), could be also an option.
