I brought out my old friend the Firefox Inspector today and I think I have figured out how the javascript communicates with the server. The request uses the GWT-RPC protocol. I've managed to make successful requests and gotten responses which contain a file name.
While it still works as of now, the Lexin downloader uses a deprecated file structure and will probably break in the future. Lexin has moved to id-based filenames. Since I was the one who introduced the Lexin downloader I feel some responsibility for keeping it up to date. The new website is completely built with JavaScript, so there is no html to scrape for the id. Ideas are welcome.
