Laser is not being displayed properly in raring+hydro #411

Original report (archived issue) by Jose Luis Rivero (Bitbucket: Jose Luis Rivero, GitHub: j-rivero).

When installing the raring version of drcsim (using hydro as ROS distro) and trying to visualize the LaserScan with the gazebo Topic Visualization tool, nothing is shown in the visualizer. This is happening using gazebo 2.1.0 and gazebo-prerelease 2.2.1. If I open RVIZ, the LaserScan is shown really close to the robot head.

Confirmed also in the system of @caguero .

Forgot to run optirun in my hybrid laptop, which was running intel instead of nvidia.

I've seen strange gpu laser results with intel gpu. The lasers distance returns get truncated to arbitrary lengths, usually much less than 1.

Before installing bumblebee I could not use the lidar, I was using Intel's CPU card with a nouveau driver. But after successfully installing bumblebee I was able to see the lidear when running the "cpu" version of the multisense_sl_cpu.urdf files in the atlas_description/urdf folder.

There has been very little spoken about this problem and it may be affecting many.
