Display languages without country specification #47

The managing editor of Peripherica has requested to display languages without the country specification, e.g. Español instead of Español (España) and Português instead of Português (Portugal).

I investigated using the Custom Locale plugin but it doesn't seem to address this. The plugin seems like it just gives access to the .po files, but those don’t seem to be where that display string is controlled.

Another possible option is installing a different version of the languages - https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/translating-guide/en/managing-languages#install-a-language.
