This whole time I was going under the assumption that DRM works on Windows, but that may not be the case. Can someone confirm that Netflix 4K works on Windows? Also test if Netflix 4K works on Windows with IGPU disabled.
On Windows, Netflix 4K works with HDMI output. When using type-c to dp, there is only 1080p
With IGPU disabled?
Just tested it. It works both with iGD enabled and disabled
Was curious about this myself, and decided to try. was interesting and could repeat the same as above. (Apple TV) with Intel Codec - black screen only. No video or sound. with AMD codec - bottom half video fine, top half green and garbled video, played for exactly 30 seconds and then dies (black screen, no sound or video) Display Port Screen. and HDMI screen. (I do not have any USBC screens)

Sorry to revive an old thread... Just curious... Have you seen any issues if you use a browser like chrome or Firefox? If I use Chrome and go to tv.apple.com it works fine.... AppleTV, Netflix, and other TV streaming... it only seems to be an issue with Safari and secure streams... As far as I can tell the Appletv app is just a web app...
Not sure about tv.apple.com, but Netflix only uses DRM on their 4K streams which isn't supported on non-secure platforms. I think other services have similar "fallback" which usually downgrades stream quality.
Intel just released an updated Radeon driver for Windows: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19282/radeon-rx-vega-m-graphics.html
PlayReady HWDRM CBCS for H264/HEVC
But I tried testing with https://testweb.playready.microsoft.com/Tool/Hwdrm and it didn't work...
Hi,
Is anyone else having issue to play videos from Apple tv app ? I'm getting a blank screen while playing any episodes. I tried Netflix on browser and it's working fine. Only having issue with Apple TV+.
