Elz says: wait till Rails 3 as they are changing all the Javascript helpers. Which means the above fix will be defunct. :|

I don't know if this really belongs in this issue. I think I should find another issue or possibly make one, but since it is related and perhaps we can cross-reference or something: trouble with deleting when you have javscript, only something might be disrupting the javascript, possibly an add-on. We're trying to determine which add-on this might be. This issue was reported: https://otw.16bugs.com/projects/4911/bugs/187306 We have a list there of 11 add-ons + that at a computer where she did manage to delete the story (public library ...) she noticed that Java™ Plug-in SSV Helper wasn't enabled, so possibly a suspect? Oh, and useful link for printing add-ons from firefox, courtesy of Matty: http://techdows.com/2010/02/how-to-print-list-of-firefox-extensions.html

Starting the cleanup early: this issue is way too general. We need to open up separate issues for each bit that we want to degrade gracefully. (I know, that's ALL of them, but not all at once.)
I'm hoping some of our JQuery ninjas might help with this :) For now there is already an issue for "Deleting comments without JS".
Not closing as we haven't defined a way to store this somewhere as a high level target: "make it work without JS", but de-assigning myself due to lack of time.

Looks as if this needs to be reviewed too? I can't see anyone picking it up randomly without it being prioritised given it was originally logged in 2008 and some instances may have been resolved in the meantime (we can hope :)

Issue 2523 is for deleting comments without JavaScript Issue 2662 is for deleting tag sets without JavaScript Issue 2663 is for deleting tag set nominations without JavaScript
So we at least have a start on making separate issues for each instance.
We still need issues for... deleting challenges without JavaScript (gives a 500 error) deleting collections without JavaScript deleting drafts from the drafts page without JavaScript (deleting from the draft work itself using Delete Work works as it is the same as deleting a work) deleting series without JavaScript deleting skins without JavaScript deleting pseuds without JavaScript deleting challenge sign-ups without JavaScript deleting bookmarks without JavaScript
Deleting works, subscriptions, items from inbox, works that inspired you, and works inspired by you all work without JavaScript. I haven't tried anything else.

Try to delete pretty much anything on the site with Javascript disabled, and it won't work - all the delete links use a Javascript alert box to ensure that the user wants to delete the item in question. We need a separate system for non-JS users.
