tags reverting when creating new work #361

What archive revision are you testing on? (See the revision number next to "An Archive Of Our Own: Extreme Alpha (rev. #)" in the header). What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Create a new work while logged in

  1. Enter information into any/all boxes for Character, Pairing, or Tags
  2. Preview the work
  3. Hit "Edit"
  4. Remove text from boxes for Character, Pairing, or Tags
  5. Preview the work again (and text will remain)
  6. Hit "Edit" (and the text will still be in the boxes) What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I expect that when I delete the text for a character or pairing or tag, the text should no longer be displayed on the new preview, and should not appear on the edit screen when I go back. Please provide any additional information below. Changes to the story text, notes, summary, genre, fandom, and rating seem to "stick" but changes made to character, pairing, tags, and warning will revert.

Note: Warning will correctly display changes on preview, but if you edit from there, it goes back to the initial warning text. (e.g. I had originally "flangst" as a warning. Then I changed it to "None of these warnings apply." I previewed and saw "None..." but when I edited again, the box had "flangst" inside.

I just tried this in 739 and it's not working for me. The pairing/characters/tags info wont delete if you click 'edit' on the preview page and then take the text out...it shows up again on the preview page.

I'm using Foxfire 1.5.0.4

Related to this:

It also does the opposite -> from user Faith: It doesn't remember the current values for rating, pairing, character, tags etc when you edit the story metadata. This appeared to be the case when you went back to editing after previewing the post and when you went to edit a posted story.

in rev 783: Changes no longer revert; changes made in preview maintain through posting.

However - pairing is the only field to maintain data; tags and characters drop data and do not post at all.
