Ability to search and sort by story completeness

What archive revision are you testing on? (See the revision number next to "An Archive Of Our Own: Extreme Alpha (rev. #)" in the header). r687 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Beging process of creating a new work
(this is more of a feature request than an actual defect, except, I think this is something that should be implemented from day-1... I've seen archives add this function later, and then some of the authors update old works to include it and some don't) What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I very strongly would like (and expect) to see a formal spot reserved for a tick-box devoted to a work's completeness. I do not want to have to rely on whether or not the author thought to add the extra tag, "complete." When looking at the story summary and displayed tags, I want to be able to tell in a glance whether or not this work is complete or a WiP (and be able to search by this).

I suppose I'd also support the formal inclusion of a WiP tag as an alternative, if the assumption is that all stories are complete when posted.

As of r690 , you should see this in the work blurb as: "Chapters: 1/1", "Chapters: 2/?", "Chapters: 3/3", "Chapters: 4/10", etc. Let me change the title to focus on searching and sorting by completeness, since you can't yet do that and it would be helpful.

I don't think this issue has been solved in a useful way. In the filters there is a box one can tick which only brings up completed stories. I took the issue to mean that one would also be able to search for works-in-progress, that's currently not possible. Currently it's either Complete+WIP or Complete. I also don't like the placement for the tick box. Without Javascript, this box comes at the bottom of the extremely large scrolling intensive tag list. It should be up with Warnings and categories, before the large lists start.

We're planning on doing more work on the filters in the near future, so the length of the tag lists for users without Javascript is not something we're going to tackle in this release. And all the requests I've seen for this sort of feature were from people who wanted to be able to filter out unfinished works - if we find that the use case is broader than that, we can switch to a dropdown in a future release. I wouldn't leave the issue unverified because of that if the current functionality is working as expected.

I used the Advanced search to search for the tag 'Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter' and got 2190 works. I performed the same search, with the 'Complete?' box checked, and it brings up 0 works. There were definitely some completes works amongst the 2190.

This should be re-tested when Issue 2531 becomes DeployedToTest.

Also, check with Elz if the rake After:set_complete_status has been run on Test, or results may be unpredictable.
