Form needs a valid Recipient ID, which has to be derived from a Trial ID.
Trial ID is a combination of the following parameters:
- Work Package (Defaults to WP4)
- Retrieval Team Centre Code (NN)
- Online or Offline Randomisation (based on the Randomisation list they are linked to - results in 0 or 9)
- Sequence Number for Donor (NN)
- Location of Organ removed (L or R)
Issue is one of user error and clarity, so solutions could be:
- Type in the Trial ID : Problematic because it doesn't guarantee the ID is valid, and that won't be confirmed until the user attempts to save the form for the first time. Auto-complete type ahead may be possible here if we can get the auto-complete library to read a list of valid codes that are linked to Recipient IDs
- Break the ID into components to ensure user checks all elements : Forces the user to have to select from 4 drop downs. Populating the drop downs won't be trivial either, and we still have to reconstitute the Trial ID back into a Recipient ID
If we can get auto-complete to work here, this would seem to be the most effective solution.
As per issue #157 a custom search for Trial IDs in selection fields will be most helpful. This was already identified for S/AE forms and the same issue presents in QoL forms where multiple forms for one Trial ID will be entered.
I fear that without it wrong Trial IDs might be selected (they are all very alike with only the last letter changing for different kidneys) and therefore data entered for the wrong recipient. We would never be able to trace back such an error.
