After clearing a search, the sidebar could return to the state before #23

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use the sidebar to navigate to a particular page
2. expand various tree levels within the sidebar Contents hierarchy
3. start a search
4. clear the searchbar

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The sidebar could return to the exact previous state. highlight position
and expanded trees could return.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

1.2 on 10.5.4
