Weird characters before each non ascii char #43

Mac

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Simply opening a file

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.4 (currently the last one)

Please provide any additional information below.
Files tested also with other chm readers:  no problem with the others.

Is it "Cocoa Programming for mac OS X 3rd Edition"? It's a known issue.
The locale ID being set in the file does not match the encoding the pages 
really are.
You may need to set the text encoding to Unicode manually.
