Outreachy, as a program, has grown significantly. We receive ten times more applications than we used to 7 years ago. We need to review our docs in order to find and change any guidelines that are incompatible with our current scale.
@TildaDares and I have started the process of reviewing our applicant guide so we can update our guidelines for the December 2024 cohort.
You might also want to check the emails we send to applicants about the final application. I have the memory that it might direct them to check with their mentors about the timeline.
We should also encourage applicants to incorporate milestones in their timeline where they share a draft of their work with their mentors and the community. This should happen at least every two weeks, if not weekly. That will also help Outreachy organizers socialize the idea of having public works drafts at each internship feedback point after the first feedback.
