Flash movie fails to appear in Chrome 3.0.195.33 when using params.wmode="transparent" using dynamic publishing #404

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Visit http://www.ds.org/test/swfobjectlink/indext.html using Chrome

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected result is the same result as in this URL:
http://www.ds.org/test/swfobjectlink/index.html

What you actually see is a green rectangle with no text - i.e. the flash
movie has not appeared.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

The only difference between the two links above is that the second has the
code on line 10 (params.wmode = "transparent";) commented out.

The examples above use swfObject v2.1 beta7, however the same issue has
been found using swfObject v2.2

This issue has been found using Google Chrome v3.0.195.33 on MS Windows
Server 2003

Please provide any additional information below.

The flash movie can occasionally be made to appear by enabling the
JavaScript console in the Chrome "Developer" menu

The issue has been confirmed NOT to be present in windows versions of:
IE6, IE7, IE8, Safari 4.03, Firefox 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and Opera 9.64

I cannot reproduce. I have the same Chrome build, and I see the Flash version
in both
pages (10,0,32,18)

The only difference I can see in your report is that I have tested on Vista 32,
and
you are on Sever 2003.

Can you please test on another box which is Vista / XP, and see if you still
have the
same issue?

BTW - wmode=transparent has A LOT of known issues in various browsers which are
not
SWFObject specific. Avoid if at all possible....

On further investigation, this issue only appears if the flash movie has been
previously viewed with that installation of Chrome.

Updated test case:
Visit http://www.ds.org/test/swfobjectlink/indext.html using Chrome
Navigate away from that page.
Revisit the page.

The issue described above will now be visible.

Our product cannot get away without using wmode=transparent. It might have
issues on
many browsers, but then that is what swfObject is there for. :-P However, as I
specified in my original post, Chrome is the only browser we can find which has
this
issue.

I just tested in Chrome 7.0.517.44 and could not replicate the error.

Considering Chrome is a self-updating browser, it appears there shouldn't be
very many people who still have Chrome 3.x.

I will close this thread. If you feel the error is still occurring and needs
attention, please post a follow-up comment on this thread with updated
information (browser information, operating system, Flash Player version,
etc.). Thanks.
