A case that has slipped through the cracks when refactoring the Menu system is the one of Special Stages accessed via level select, an addition to 1.1. While playing a Special Stage via level select:
The lives counter does not appear. The shield box shouldn't appear neither.
Losing a stage for any reason brings up the same menu, but instead of "Retry (-1 life)" and "Return to act", the two options are "Retry" and "Quit"
After either completing the Special Stage or quitting, another menu appears: "Select another" (to select another Special Stage) or "Restart game" (restarts the game without the level select code activated)
Right now, the code hasn't been updated, so even entering the Special Stage does not work.
