What about a Homing Shield instead? Keeping more in the spirit of the gameplay? We're kind of out of elements so maybe it could be the "Digital Shield" implying technology behind the homing capability.

I'm gonna agree with the last two options, while a shield that gives the player a homing attack would be cool, it would also be ok to not impact the game balance in general, but a secret homing attack option in the menu could also be a good thing, altho how good it can be depends on how the Homing Attack is implemented into the game's code base.

If it's for an option, I suggest implementing an Achievement option.

If a task is done right, you'll get an achievement, and usually you'll get that secret homing attack
