Telegram won't connect on desktop with VPN enabled #909

Edit

I figured something out.

Everything works fine without VPN.

But it won't connect with VPN enabled (connected to my local city). Why is that? Is a VPN banned from Telegram or something?

Summary

Desktop (I have issues on the desktop)

Telegram is stuck on "Connecting..." and I can't send or receive messages on both desktop devices – Macbook Pro M1 (Pro) and Mac Studio M1 (Max)

Mobile phone (I do not have this issue on the phone)

Telegram works fine on iOS or Android. You can send or receive text or pictures.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Use a macOS and install telegram and mobile connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Make a finding that a computer won't connect.
  3. Make a finding that a mobile phone (iOS) can connect, and there is no problem.

Expected behavior

Telegram should connect instantly like it used to and can receive/send text messages or pictures; all computer devices should have the same behavior as mobile phones.

Actual behavior

All devices listed below are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Works fine on the phone

Telegram works fine on iOS and Android; it connects instantly, and we can share text and pictures on the phone, but we need it on our computers too.

Yesterday (Jan 3rd, 2023), on both Mac computers, it finally started working after 3-4 hours after opening, which is new. However, I can receive or send text messages BUT I can't send or receive pictures. Pictures or videos are stuck in loading mode. Today (Jan 4th, 2023), Telegram remains in "Connecting..." mode for 6 hours after opening.

I tried restarting the computer and reinstalling the telegram, but the behavior remains.

When submitting this issue, Telegram is still stuck in the "Connecting..." phase. It has been 4 hours since I opened Telegram. What's going on?

Operating system

macOS Ventura 13.2

Version of Telegram Desktop

9.3.241552 Stable I checked for an update, and it says I have the latest version.

Installation source

brew install --cask telegram that download and install a binary from the official website
