Update Places app to be able to see usernames of people in a domain/place instead of just a user count. #592

Would be nice to have this feature because you could see exactly who is in there and to see where your friends are without needing to join the place first.

I think we currently don't have an API for this on Directory Server, but it would be worth checking and extending the directory server if necessary.

If you want to track your friend you can already do this in the People app. (and it is optional from each side of the relationship for good reasons.)

Is it still working? this I can't tell.

The last thing I would like is to be listed and geolocated publically. This is just non sense. Transpose this to real world.. would you like that everybody see on google map who is present in a specific location? (I would probably stop to have public worlds if this happen one day.)

The count it self is already questionable. N people indication doesn't mean that we are welcome to join as you don't know what is the event.

Agreed. In my opinion People App would be the best place for it.

The people app allows you to see where your contacts are and I believe the directory server already sends this information. I think it is just not in the right format right now so we just need to update directory server or modify the people app.

I was unaware of the People app being able to track friend locations. I will be using that from now on.

Personally I am coming from NeosVR and I am quite accustomed to having the information of users in a session, like being able to see who is in there before joining. I believe this is also quite common information in other online platforms and games.

Maybe there could be an option on user's side to make yourself not appear in these lists if you don't want to? Like an invisible in listing status or something.

There already is availability setting in the people app. I just did not used it yet, since as mentioned at the moment it essentially only says that you are online in "unavailable" or what was the replacement for unknown location. You can limit visibility of being online (and location when fixed) to just friends, be visible to all connections, and unless I misremember, appear offline.
