Open JacquesMrz opened 3 years ago

JacquesMrz commented 3 years ago

Summary

For the most demanding use cases, a File Storage service allow all your servers and applications can access to data through shared file system. This is as well the perfect answer to K8s Read/Write-many Persistent Volumes use case.

Intended Outcome

Backend will be Netapp Ontap Single NFS Fileshare using NFSv3 Max size volume : 8 TB Max number of volumes per Public Cloud Project : 1000 Min Volume size : 250 GB

Features will be available through OpenStack Manila Standard API: $ manila endpoints $ manila credentials $ manila type-list $ manila create $ manila update $ manila list $ manila show $ manila access-allow $ manila access-deny $ manila access-list $ manila extend $ manila shrink $ manila share delete $ manila snapshot create $ manila snapshot-rename $ manila snapshot-list $ manila snapshot-show $ manila snapshot-delete $ manila revert-to-snapshot $ manila share-instance-export-location-list $ manila share-instance-export-location-show

Service will be as well exposed in OVHcloud customer control panel AND Horizon.

Performance allocation will be linear, with 4 IOPS per GB provisioned: if a volume is resized performance is updated in consequence. Pricing being worked.

How will it work

This would be related to OIO-FS support, right ?

Izaia64 commented 2 years ago

No it is not related to OIO-FS but other technology

matmicro commented 2 years ago

Any chance to have an ETA for this ?

Izaia64 commented 2 years ago

Not yet information about ETA, we will keep your informed as soon as we have it

JacquesMrz commented 2 years ago

Hi all,

I can share that the target is to have a File offer available through standard APIs (OpenStack Manila). The choice of the underlying solution is being done.

Hi; will it be possible to scale both up and down ?

JacquesMrz commented 1 year ago

Hi @fthiery , from what we know as of today, both upscale and downscale should be possible. Information added to the previous post.

Link corrected. Sorry for that.

Rohithzr commented 7 months ago

Will this service have auto-expandable storage? I think that is a miss by OVH for various services.

Hi @Rohithzr, we will only support increase and shrink features in a manual way for the MVP, no auto-scale for now. Can you please open an issue for this specific feature? This will help tracking it! Thanks a lot 👍
