Unclear what popularize and repopularize means, makes the logic very hard to understand.

Here the expression means "to populate the rawTimetable again".

"Populate" does not seem to be an ill-defined term here; in fact, the tester could point out what this term means in other bugs and the dev team has accepted that bug.

"Re" means again, anew. We insert the lessons into the rawTimetable again. The reason is explained in the following sentence: to make sure our rawTimetable is not altered by the sorting algorithms.
