Support for mkv and avi in files_videoviewer #1335

Expected behaviour

Avi and mkv files should be playable.

Actual behaviour

Avi file opens lightbox but there is no videoplayer. Mkv files starts downloading.

Server configuration

Operating system: Linux Cube 2.6.32.12 ppc Web server: Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/1.0.0h PHP/5.3.10 Database: MySQL 5.1.49 PHP version: 5.3.10 ownCloud version: 5.0.10

Client configuration

Browser: Chromium 27.0.1453.93 (and maybe other Chromium versions), Firefox 23 Operating system: Fedora 17, Fedora 18, Fedora 19

I'm having the samer issue with OC 8.0.2

Emby (ex-MediaBrowser) does it. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser Plex Media Server does it. https://plex.tv/

And for ownCloud, there are workarounds with Embedded Videostream and ownCloud XBMC

ownCloud Music never worked. So, how could we seriously hope a native media management with Full HD video mkv (or avi) stream support in ownCloud?? We are waiting since 2010.

I personally use Emby and I know that some ownCloud dev are/were using Plex. For me, media management has never been the purpose of ownCloud.
