Video player doesn't play mp4 720p video #1435

Open Sherlock1979 opened 11 years ago

Sherlock1979 commented 11 years ago

Expected behaviour

When I click an mp4 video, it should play it. Video Viewer app is enabled.

Actual behaviour

Video player opens. Video downloads (I can see in Google Chrome Dev Tools on Network tab), then after 100% it is cancelled (at Network tab). Video Player shows progress circle for a while and that's all.

The video is a standard mp4 720p video, recorded with a Samsung Galaxy S3 (cyanogenmod android 4.2.2).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Click on a video file.

@Sherlock1979 Solved with http://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php/Embedded+Videostream?content=162915&PHPSESSID=c45d478a7bdda26f11d88a2a2a3f75be

I feel like this issue should be solved in the native player. Embedded Video stream's interface is a little disappointing.

VicDeo commented 10 years ago

@mhohman What is your oC version? Does this video have a preview in the files list?

francwalter commented 9 years ago

So which format do I need to play videos in owncloud? Still mp4 not working it seems :(

HLFH commented 9 years ago

@francwalter To play every video format on ownCloud, you could disable the video plugin you are using and use instead this plugin + VLC Web Plugin for OS X or for Windows + Firefox, then if you want to watch 3D, with Embedded Videostream, you generate a link and copy it on Daum PotPlayer (Windows only).

Thank you very much, but it is not the issue on my computer but on some users computers, I need the video to play just on most configurations. Now I discovered the encoder MiroVideoConverter which is opensource and can convert to webm format. This format actually does play in my and all new browsers, I guess. Thank anyway!!!

HLFH commented 9 years ago

As said on Wikipedia and other places, Miro is crap!!! It's openwashing : they are saying that they are an open source oriented company but they cleary add crapwares/adwares inside their Miro software. So, it's a bullshit company.

A developer of Miro wrote that the Windows installer installs proprietary commercial software such as browser add-ons, also known as crapware,[7] stating "This is one of the primary ways we fund continued Miro development."[8]

IMHO, on Windows, this real free software is better: https://gitgud.io/nixx/WebMConverter. And there are other tools listed there like the Adobe Premiere plugin: http://www.webmproject.org/tools/

If you are using Miro, you should consider install then AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

francwalter commented 9 years ago

Oh no! Damn! So the warning in Firefox was right. I installed it on Mac OS 10.10 Is there malware as well?

HLFH commented 9 years ago

@francwalter No malware. With Miro, you could only get crapware and adware.

0) You could check the plugins of every browser you are using on your Mac (Chrome, Safari, ...), and verify if there isn't a bad plugin, and if there is one, delete it.

1) If there is a Miro application in the Applications folder, you could remove it easily with AppCleaner.

2) Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac, it will propose you to scan your files, then list the badwares, and after selecting all the detected badwares, you'll have to click on "Remove selected". It could be possible that "MalwareBytes did not found any malware". But if it does, after the removal, you'll have to reboot your Mac, and it'll be ok.

3) You could use this WebM Plugin along with Adobe Premiere Pro or maybe use this Simple-WebM tool. If you need help for that step, don't hesitate to ask.
