Google Summer of Code #133

Open jancborchardt opened 8 years ago

Yo @v1r0x, are you interested in being a Google Summer of Code student for ownCloud and work on the Maps app?

Just as initial question because we don’t have a lot of time left. We would need a proper proposal etc of course but just to check if you are interested! :) (Student application deadline is on Friday 25th: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline)

Alternatively you can of course also be a mentor and get a student. In any case there needs to be an idea proposal. :) Like at https://github.com/owncloud/core/wiki/Google-Summer-of-Code#2016--current

Btw @v1r0x what is your email address? We’re also doing a collaboration with GNOME (cc @jonasdn). See »Synchronize GNOME Maps with ownCloud« at https://wiki.gnome.org/Outreach/SummerOfCode/2016/Ideas and it would be good to have you as a technical mentor there.

@jancborchardt in general I'm inerested. But I'm not sure if a mentor or student would be better. Don't know if the current contacts implementation works with the new contacts app (@Henni) and there is currently no api for POIs and favorites (but shouldn't be hard to implement ;)).

v1r0x commented 8 years ago

And what would be the TODO list as mentor/student?

nickvergessen commented 8 years ago

Mentor: help the student to work on his task by assisting with technical questions and reviewing his code Student: write code

v1r0x commented 8 years ago

Thanks, but I meant the tasks regarding to maps.

I put this issue to backlog for now. Since we don't do this in this year, we could keep it in mind for next year. Or should we close it? @jancborchardt

jancborchardt commented 8 years ago

It’s fine keeping for next year. Then we can also better coordinate with @jonasdn from GNOME Maps. :)
