Saving documents for later and being able to tag them and view them cross-device would be enormously helpful to me, as I'm sure it would be for many others. Saving all associated data in ownCloud to keep it private and under my control would be even better.
To this end, would it be possible for mozilla_sync to implement compatibility with the Firefox Pocket feature? I assume not, since Pocket seems to be developed by a closed-source company, but maybe Firefox (who seem privacy-conscious) could nonetheless be pressured to allow this in the future? If that fails, what would be the best way to move forward with an alternative, assuming that one doesn't already exist? Perhaps the ocDownloader app would be a better jumping-off point than mozilla_sync.
