Open effemmeffe opened 8 years ago

effemmeffe commented 8 years ago

Actual behaviour

The client doesn't upload old pictures and videos present on the phone.

Expected behaviour

It should be some way to trigger the upload of the photos and videos already present on the phone before installation of the client.

Steps to reproduce

  1. shoot some picture on the phone
  2. shoot some videos on the phone
  3. download the oC Android client

    Environment data

Android version: 6.0

Device model: MotoG 3rd gen

Stock or customized system: stock

ownCloud app version: 2.0.1

ownCloud server version: ownCloud 9.0.4 (stable)

EDIT 2021:

zyberspace commented 8 years ago

This was already proposed in #454 but closed in favor of the "Select all" button.

However i for example have my pictures in multiple folders across the phone and going through all the folders and subfolders is quite a pain. (Using both, Whatsapp and Telegram already results in two different directories)

I recently uploaded all my pictures to amazon drive with a single click on a checkbox in the amazon photos app. I decided yesterday to switch to nextcloud and after having successfully installed the server today i was kinda disappointed that there is no real option to insta upload all my phone pictures. So i would really look foward to such a feature finally being implemented.

It's clear there is interest in this feature, that's why I labelled it this time instead of closing it. Unfortunately, can't make any estimation about its implementation right now. We need to sort out other things before.

In any case, consider the discussion open. We need, for instance, details how to integrate the feature in the current UI.

2 years later, this still doesn't seem possible.

How can I force the camera upload to upload existing photos on the device?

theScrabi commented 6 years ago

Ok true this could be a useful enhancement. But a possible work around was to copy the images onto your computer and upload it from there.

Not perfect I know, but once you did it you don't have to bother about it anymore. However help for such enhancements is welcome :)

I bumped into this while testing my company's ownCloud android app.

On both the company branded version (v2.19) android app and the regular ownCloud (v3.0.1) android app, only newly created photos are uploaded, while old photos in the DCIM folder are not being uploaded.

Thanks for considering this. For now I will upload the files by hand.
