Hello,
this an enhancement feature request for better managing the pictures/files. It is always difficult to keep track of thousands of files when you have multiple copies of different subsets on multiple devices.
Here's the most common problem. This thanksgiving I took 200 pictures, I uploaded them all (I think) using Instant upload, but I only deleted 60 from the phone, but I am not sure which other photos have been uploaded. Now I am not sure which files to delete from this album anymore. The other album is now also uploaded, but i'm not sure if everything was uploaded or not. I cannot put the pictures side by side to compare.
Therefore, as soon as file is uploaded, it is best to either delete the original file, or to move it to cache, or maybe even to somehow mark it for later deletion. I think moving it to cache, and pretend as if it was downloaded from the server, is the best approach.
Please implement a new feature on all mobile clients to move local pictures to cache after a successful upload to the cloud.
Please do not download local pictures after you just uploaded them. Move the files from camera/dcim folder the cache folder.
Please also overlay the local pictures that have moved to the cache with down arrow to indicate the local files are now in cache.
Please also delete these files whenever the local cache cleaning cycle runs.
Please also add an option in user interface, right under the "instant upload" checkbox" saying "Keep a copy of uploaded files on the phone" with a checkbox checked by default.
The logic of this checkbox would be if checked the behaviour for the software would be identical to the old version. The user would have to deliberately uncheck it to use the new "move to the cloud feature".
Please also, after the user has removed the checkmark, display a popup message saying "If you don't want to keep a copy of the pictures on the phone, after a successful upload to the server, this owncloud client will move it the cache folder. The cache folder is routinely erased, but the files on your private cloud are kept safe until manually deleted from the cloud.".
