While I think daap does support the concept of multiple libraries, forked-daapd does not. I'm not sure how much we be required to add this, but it's not top of my list, to be honest.
So ye, multiple instances would be difficult, but how about multiple spotify libraries? So I open my remote app, and I can pick from filesystem libraries, and multiple spotify accounts?
I'm unsure what you mean by this: "I can pick from filesystem libraries, and multiple spotify accounts". Can you elaborate?

As I'm using forked-daapd to control my Spotify account via the Home Assistant Dashboard and play it on my AirPlay receiver I'd really like multi-account support so my wife would also be able to use this with her account (and so my account won't get messed up with her music :D)
Commenting on this to add a +1. Maybe its possible with the new spotify integration? LMS supports adding multiple spotify accounts which is great as we have wildly different tastes within our family ;)
I'm also looking to have an Owntone setup with a 2nd Spotify user on my Spotify Premium account. I'm using Home Assistant and am trying to get a dashboard card working with multiple Spotify accounts and Owntone so that I can stream to my Apple Homepod mini speakers.
Currently to support my family, each has their own instance of forked-daapd. This obviously becomes an issue when one person starts a session, and then another wants to change a song. Is it possible to have one instance with multiple spotify accounts, that would show up as available libraries?
