One of the most important capabilites for any messenger app is the option to export chats to encrypted db or csv files

would be nice if there such an option like signal have encrypted database backup

with signal backup you can later decrypt the db with the following command: _signalbackup-tools_win --output RAWBACKUP/ signal-YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MMinute-SS_NewName.backup 000FABRICATEDPASS000000000000

This would be very useful. Because the app is still quite buggy, clearing the data and reinstall is not unusual. Being able to save contacts at least and messages opptionaly would be a must IMHO.

Is there any progress on this or chat backups in general? This is the one thing holding me back from trying Session.

Definitely most important easy to implement feature... Is there a reason they don't want it? Creates too much network load all at once?

If network load is going to be an increasing problem, then what about some kind of crypto token that is a currency of usage beyond basic. So you could earn some se$$ion by hosting a node for a little while with your ID associated (somehow). That money would go into your IDs account and could afford you performance above and beyond basic - and also get gigabytes of data exports in the case your session data has grown beyond what basic offers...
