Install aborted due to faliure to uninstall - help please #2726

Hi PC desktop - removed session without a proper uninstall - ie deleted folder - rookie error but Im used to a Mac. Now when I try to reinstall it aborts part way through. Its evident it still thinks there is a previous version there as its listed in my "add or remove programs" though I cant uninstall from there and its offering to repair my old version though that doesnt do anything eitehr. As a result wherever I try to install it aborts. Can I manually remove the old bits of the program left? Ive looked in the uninstall registry (way beyond my comfort zone!) but cant find anything that looks like session. Thanks for your help

I've seen this before on a Windows device, i think the installer needs to more aggressively clear existing data before installing over the top, there seems to be some file which prevents new installation
