[BUG] Notifications from Conversation Groups not working #2883

Is there an existing issue for this?

Current Behavior

After installing session for the first time and joining various groups I have never had notifications from Groups, I do get notifications from one-to-one chats which confirms Windows notifications are working. I have not created a group so I'm unable to confirm if its limited to groups join only. I have cycled through all available options in Settings > Notifications and in the individual Group settings. No combination appears to work for groups. I have used the Settings > Clear Data option > Clear Device Only option which resets all setting but this also has no effect. I do not use Session on any other device.

Expected Behavior

Receive notifications from Groups.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install Session.
  2. Sign in.
  3. Join conversation group.
  4. Get no notification when message arrives.

v1.11.0

By groups do you mean closed groups / groups or open groups / communities? there is a little bit of a difference between the two open groups / communities don't currently support push notifications

I mean closed groups. i.e. groups made in the Session app.

Will there be a fix for this bug in near future? There is a visual notification on the name of the group only. It would be great to have a sound notification as well.

An overhaul to closed groups is in the works and this should be addressed as part of that
