Exploring the keypad in Telephone causes input of numbers without lifting the finger #197

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Telephone.
2. Select Telephone (keypad for dialing a number)
3. Select 7, for example.
4. Explore the keypad slowly around the Digit 7 for about a Minute. May also be
shorter if reproduced by then.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: Exploration should not cause number Input.
Result: in certain cases, which I can't Name, Exploration causes number Input.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Talkback 3.3.0_B3 on Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Unable to reproduce. Do you have single-tap enabled?

Are you sure that:
1. You are not lifting your finger at all the entire time
2. The number is being input (e.g. you hear it spoken back in a higher pitch)

Could you also clarify how you're exploring around the keypad? Are you touching
the 7 and moving in a circle that hits other keys, touching just within the 7
key and moving very slightly, moving to the edge of the screen? Do you hear any
other speech while you're touching the screen? We're still having trouble
reproducing this, and any specific details would be appreciated.

I am sorry. My previous comment that I had sent via the E-Mail reply didn't get
here. So here is the additional info you've been asking for in comment #3.

1. Yes, I do not lift the finger at all while exploring. I even tried pressing
it harder on the display, and I'm still having the issue. The other fingers are
far from touching the screen.
2. The number is being input. However, it is not spoken in a higher pitch. This
is due to directly speaking the other digit after input. I see the input in the
edit field and hear the keypad dial tone.

Here is how I can reproduce it:
1. Explore the keypad and go to 9 for example.
2. Now, without lifting the finger, slightly move upwards to the digit 6.
3. Slightly move downwards back to 9.
4. Repeat 2 and 3 very slightly, which most commonly suits the behaviour of a
new user.
The result here is, that very closely before leaving digit 9 and hearing digit
6 being spoken, the digit 9 sometimes is being input.
Doesn't seem to happen if slightly moving from 9 to 8 and back.

HTH

This is with TalkBack 3.3.0 on 3 Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2. Please re-open
the issue since I can't find how to do this right now.
