Upgrade react-native, gradle #46

Hey 👋

This repo has not seen an update for sometime and using it will no longer be possible with react-native 0.67. The newest react-native version bumps gradle to v7 which drops support for a maven plugin used here.

Most of the changes are related to the upgrade of gradle. I have also taken the liberty to update the react-native version defined in the package's package.json.

We are very interested into merging this, let me know if there is anything you are missing in this PR.
